Dear Friends,
RESURRECTION GREETINGS to all of you from Tema, Ghana. We trust you
and your
families and friends had a Blessed Easter Celebration full of meditation,
joy and
fun. In Tema, we marked the celebration with a three-day Convention attended
by
churches from the Greater Accra Region. There was teaching of the Word,
preaching
and lots of fellowshipping in song and dance. The highlight of the celebration
was
the honoring of Dr. Ron and Mrs. Doris Rife who are retiring from active
foreign
missions this June, after serving in Ghana from 1967-1974 and from 1996-2007.
While
they served primarily at Ghana Christian University in training preachers
and
leaders for the churches, they also assisted the churches in the villages
and
cities in various ways. We wish them a happy retirement in the U.S.A.
Please join us to thank God for the safe return of David Ketchum to Columbus,
IN, after his 7-week visit. Just before he left, he was visited by Jim and
Kris
Klokkenga from IL. Kris is a student at Lincoln Christian Seminary, while his
father Jim, is a large scale farmer in IL. They visited various farming
communities in Ghana to learn and determine how they could partner with Mission
Resource International to assist Ghanaian farmers to impact missions in the
future. We thank them for their visit and look foward to their return.
We wish to update you on Emily Piper who returned abruptly to the U.S.A. due
to
headaches and poor vision. Further tests in Atlanta, GA, revealed a slow-growing
tumor and she had surgery a week before Easter. She will see a
neuro-ophthalomolgist this Tuesday and will consult with a specialist at the
cancer treatment center in MD Anderson, Houston, TX soon. Please continue to
pray
for Emily, who at 23 did not expect to be going through trials like this. She
asks
all her christian family to hold her up daily.
We also seek prayer support for one of our preachers, Peter Lawoe, pastor of
the
Abeka Christian Church who is going into surgery today for an abdominal illness.
He told me on Friday to pass his need for prayer to as many as would be willing
to
lift him up before the throne of mercy.
Thanks again for your partnership with Ghana Christian Mission for the expansion
of God's Kingdom in Ghana and beyond. Through your prayers and giving,
evangelists and nurses continue to serve in the churches and clinics everyday.
WHAT A MIGHTY GOD WE SERVE!
Please pardon me if you get this more than once. Mass mailing challenges.
