News:
Dear Friends,
I want to thank all of you for praying for the maiden CIY Conference
in Ghana held from September 1-6.150 pastors and youth workers participated
in the International School of Youth Ministry(ISYM) on September 1and
2 while over 700 youth came together for the youth conference from
September 2-6.Both events were held at Afienya near Tema.
The theme was " THE JOURNEY" and topics treated in Discipleship
Groups,Encounter and Celebration sessions were " COME TO THE CROSS",TURN
TO GOD","YIELD TO THE SPIRIT" and "SEE HIS GLORY".Several
elective classes were also taught each day including one offered by
Professor Johnny Pressely of CBS to the ministers who did not teach
elective classes.
Praising God "African style" with lots of singing, clapping
and dancing" was at its best.Steve Sigler and his collegues could
not resist but join us to celebrate our joy in Christ.Steve declared"this
was the biggest and most successful first time ISYM and youth conference
CIY had ever held around the world".We give all the glory to God
and look foward to next year's conference.
Please pray for Steve and the rest of the team as they fly back to
the U.S.A later this evening. Also pray for the over 200 youth who responded
to the invitation to be involved in Christian Ministry. The Lord is
moving to change Africa from wars, conflicts and porverty to hope, peace,
joy and love in Christ now and forever. We enjoy your partnership with
us in this JOURNEY OF FAITH.

Dear Friends,
Greetings from Ghana where the rainy season has started and the country
side is looking very green. The Lord's favour is upon us and our medical
evangelism and urban church planting ministries remain in full gear.
The purpose of this letter is to update you on the fund we lauched
last October to purchase a double-cabin 4x4 nissan pick up truck to
serve as a back-up for the only vehicle we have for our mission work
which has over 300,000 miles on it.Through your prayers and generous
giving we have so far received $21,132 in donations. This is $4668 short
of the needed amount of $25,800 to purchase the truck.
Please prayerfully consider making a first time or additional donation
so that we may have the $4668 to purchase the vehicle to use in the
Lord's work. The need is most critical in that if we fail to buy now,the
next batch of vehicles to arrive in our country may range higher in
price.Together we have come so close to achieving this goal.Let us
make one final major push to achieve the target. My prayer is for sufficient
funds to come in for us to make the purchase by June 27.
Please send

A
Message from
Ghana Christian Mission
January 2003
- formerly known as United Christian Churches Brotherhood
- a restructuring of FAME Ghana
A WORD FROM THE DIRECTOR: Enoch Nyador
On my fall visit to the U.S., I met with the board members that advise and
encourage me. Those men are Lloyd Acton, John Noel, Steve White, and Chuck
Williams. We agreed that the name United Christian Churches Brotherhood was
too long, and did not clearly represent the mission. We selected the name
Ghana Christian Mission. GCM has become the forwarding agency of the FAME
work in Ghana. All who support me, the evangelists, or nurses of FAME Ghana
will now send funds to :
Ghana Christian Mission

Make checks out to Ghana Christian Mission. You may designate funds to a specific
evangelist or project on the memo line.
The Plainfield Church is graciously forwarding the donations to our mission.
Receipts issued by the Plainfield Church will reflect that the funds were sent
to Ghana Christian Mission.
We will be publishing this newsletter quarterly in effort to keep you better
informed. We are also developing a website which will be available by the time
your receive your next newsletter!
I will be in the US from late March to late April of 2003. If you would like
for me to meet with your congregation or missions team, please contact Doug
Fox at Central Christian Church in Jonesborough, TN (doug@cmdahome.org)
URBAN CHURCH WORK:
Urban churches located in the capital city of Accra and nearby Tema are
initially supported by US Christians who supply the money to purchase
land, build a church building, and pay the evangelist's salary. There
are 2 churches now established and growing in size, spirit, and self-sufficiency.
The goal is that these urban churches comprised of middle-class Ghanaians
will be able to help support village churches where the resources are
very limited.
Already, urban churches Faithway and Bethel have committed 10% of their annual
budgets to help rural village congregation Bortiano Christian Church. Faithway
was born in 1998 . The US mother church is Plainfield Christian in Plainfield,
IN. Richard Ntim is the evangelist.
FOCUS ON FAMILY:
Richard Ntim was born in the Eastern Region of Ghana in 1959. His grandfather,
a school teacher and church leader led him to Christ. After completing a Higher
School Certificate, he served as a National Service Personal for one year at
the Ghana Civil aviation Authority. He then entered Ghana Christian College,
receiving his Bachelor's degree in 1998. He started a Home Bible Study, which
grew into Faithway Christian Church.
He and his wife, Doris, have two children, Benita, age 11 and Flynt, age 8.
Richard spent the summer of 2002 as camp missionary at Camp Allendale, Trafalgar,
IN, where he was loved by all. He raised nearly $40,000 at camp and through
Indianapolis area churches. This money has been used to:
*purchase a bus for the Faithway church
*provide transportation for evangelists at Faithway and Bethel churches
*buy musical instruments for both congregations
*complete payment for the land for the Bethel church
*begin molding cement blocks for the building of a chapel at Faithway
MEDICAL WORK:
Elizabeth Owusu-Sekyere is serving as the mid-wife and mission nurse at the
FAME clinic in Makango, a remote northern region. She has a husband and 5
children, ranging in age from 9 to 28 years. She considers nursing her gift
of service from God.
After her training, she worked in her hometown in the Ashanti Region of Ghana
(Central Ghana) for 22 years. In 2000, she was called by FAME to serve in the
remote community of Makango in northern Ghana. Although it was difficult to
leave the city, she considered it her duty to serve with all her mind, soul,
and strength where she was needed.
For 2 years, she has lived at Makango where there is not a single vehicle in
the community. The clinic has treated over 6500 patients since it was commissioned
in May 1999. Many more people in the 15 surrounding villages are in need of
health education and services, but without a vehicle to reach them, this is
only vision, not a reality.
The Makango clinic needs:
* strong vehicle (approx. $23,000)
*surgical scissors
*mini-lab kit
* sterilizers
*dressing materials (gauze, bandages, gloves, masks, etc.)
*syringes and needles
*delivery set
*dressing drum
*receiver with a lid
Visiting Americans!
In December of 2002 an eight-member team of preachers form Dallas and
Houston visited Ghana to hold youth and leadership seminars. They also
explored avenues for small scale farming and local industries as a
means of creating employment for the church members and helping them
become self-sufficient.
In January, 2003, a 26 member team of students and faculty from Depauw
University in Indiana will visit Ghana to assist in a chapel construction
for the church in the northern part of the Volta Region. They will also
help with medical care at the clinic.
In February, 2003, a 15-member team from the Christian Medical and Dental
Association will visit Ghana to serve in the Volta Region treating patients
and sharing the Gospel of Jesus in word and deed.
PRAYERS OF PRAISE AND PETITION:
Rejoice for:
*safe travel for Enoch and Lydia in Oct/Nov. visiting churches throughout
the mid-west and Florida
*participation of the Nyadors in the National Missionary Convention
*faithful supporters
*faithful evangelists and nurses reaching tribal villages
Request:
*continued faithfulness and focus of evangelists and nurses
*continued faithfulness of supporters
*guidance in selecting a new evangelist for Yezesi and surrounding villages
STATISTICS:
SINCE 1987….
- over 2500 baptized
-over 61,000 patients treated in clinics
-65 churches have been started
URGENT NEED:
For GCM to be sustained, we need reliable transportation. We have 15 evangelists
and 10 medical personnel scattered throughout Ghana…many in very remote
areas. Currently we have only one Nissan truck with 200,000 miles on it and
in need of major repairs. Any time it breaks down we become paralyzed in
our support and operational services to the clinics and churches. We are
appealing for individuals and churches to help us financially to purchase
a new Nissan 4x4 truck. The cost is $23,000. At this writing, we have $4632
raised toward the purchase of the truck. Please donate as you can so that
we can continue the work of transporting people, medicines, equipment, and
supplies. Designate truck on the memo line with the check made out to GCM
and send to GCM, 800 Dan Jones Road, Plainfield, IN 46168.
