Dear Friends,
Post-Easter Greetings to you and your loved ones, from the Ghana Christian Mission team in Ghana.
I believe we are still in Easter mood or rather “mode” after commemorating the Institution
of the Lord’s Supper, the Suffering and Death of Jesus Our King and his Miraculous
Resurrection from the dead last week. May the words of the Apostle Paul in
Philippians 3:10,11 rekindle our faith and embolden us to worship and serve him more the
rest of the year and our lives:
“ All I want is to know Christ and to experience the power of his Resurrection, to
share in his sufferings and become like him in his death, in the hope that I myself
will be like him in his death, in the hope that I myself will be raised from death to
life”
I am also happy to share with you some of the highlights of the GCM in the last
couple of months.
We welcome Bob Thomas, from First Christian Church in Carmi, IL as he joins the
GCM team this January. Bob who had served on the Mercy Ships in Ghana and Liberia
is called to be an encouragement minister to the church planters and medical staff
in the villages. His base is Salaga from where he visits the staff a week or
longer at a time. Bob’s ministry augments what Raphael, Emmanuel and I do, and is
highly appreciated. You may reach him at :
We have been blessed in recent months by the visits of partners and sponsors from
First Christian Church, Columbus, IN, Christ's Church in Jacksonville, FL and
Team Expansion, Louivelle, KY.
Kris Kloklenga a friend of David Ketchum of Mission Resource International and
a student at Lincoln Seminary, IL has accepted the post of General Manager at
an ADM Sheanut Processing Factory in Tema and ministers in the churches at the
weekends. He is full of passion for business as missions and we are enjoying his
ministry among us. You may reach him at : kristopher_klokkenga@admworld.com
Join us to thank God for the dedication of a new chapel for the Yeji Christian
Church by the shores of the Volta Lake in the Brong Ahafo Region of Ghana in January.
Evangelist Samuel Mensah led the church to put up the 500-seater chapel over a
period of ten years.
The Fellowship of Christian Churches made up of over 200 mainly rural churches in
Ghana held an Easter Gospel Convention from Thursday March 20- Sunday 23 with
about 1100 in attendance. It took some of the churches from southern Ghana over
16 hours of travel over rough and dusty roads to reach Salaga which is a 95%
Muslim-denominated town. Eight new converts were baptized on Easter Sunday.
We need prayer support for Alex Azi who is to have plastic surgery soon at the
Korle Bu Teaching Hospital in Accra to remove two tumors on his legs. He was
treated by Lauren Schweibert of the Global Health Outreach team which came to
Ghana last September. Lauren has been raising funds for his follow-up treatment.
Finally, we seek your prayer support for the some bereaved families in our
fellowship. First is the family of Evangelist Dan Sulemana Salam, graduate of
Ghana Christian University and church planter in the Bawku area, who died at age
52 on March 12 at the Bolgatanga Hospital after a short illness. His burial
service will be held at the Bawku Christian Church, on April 5. His widow
Jemima and the children left behind need much intercession because Bawku where
they live is recovering from some tribal violence between the Kusasis and
Mamprusis with the imposition of a curfew from 5 pm-7am each day.
Secondly hold in prayer Francis and Deborah Nyarko at the Bethel Christian
Church. Deborah’s mother died and will be buried on April 6.
Also pray for my nephew, Wisdom Nyador, a second year ministry student at Ghana
Christian University College who lost his 40 year old mother, Grace Mawulawoe,
last Saturday, March 22 after a short illness. She left behind 5 children. The
low life expectancy of Ghanaians, 56 for men and 58 for women is hitting home
very hard of late. But Jesus has conquered death. He says:
" I am the Resurrection and the life. Those who believe in me will live, even
though they die; and all those who live and believe in me will never die. Do you
believe this?" John 11: 25,26.
